Obituary

Bartelsmeyer, Luella (nee: Niehaus), 104, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on December 25, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Clarence Bartelsmeyer; loving mother of Ann Abid (Roldo Bartimole), Susan (James) Bartlett, and Debra (Dennis) Barrett; dear grandmother of Rod Abid, Kady Abid Cole (Kevin Mular), Peter Bartlett (Kristy Sammis) and Whitney Bartlett Anderson; dear great-grandmother of Charles Cole, Peyton and Riley Anderson, and Eve and Townsend Bartlett; sister of the late Thomas, Elger, Francis „Bill“, and Herbert Niehaus; and our dear aunt, cousin, and friend.

Born in Warrenton, Missouri to Gerhard and Anna (Dustmann) Niehaus, she moved with her family to Ferguson, Missouri when she was 6 months old. She continued to reside in Ferguson for 88 years until she moved to a retirement community in 2002. She was the Valedictorian of her high school class and, although unable to go to college, her curiosity in a myriad of subjects made her a lifetime learner. She was a longtime member of Ferguson United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter IM. Always active in volunteer work with United Methodist Ministries, Meals on Wheels, and other worthy causes, she spent her leisure time watching quality television, playing trivia with her church trivia team, and reading her New Yorker magazines. Her kind, gentle spirit will be remembered and missed.

Memorial Donations may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (315 Graham Rd, Florissant, MO 63031) or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
